  4. She’s only 16? I concur with all statements above! Beautiful!

  5. They look absolutely beautiful! The daughter sort of reminds me of Solange?

  6. She is breathtaking!

  7. Solange wish she did look this good. Mavis is a stunning beauty.maybe you need to get your eyes checked Solange???????????????? UGH!!

  10. wow she is A Beauty!
    Both look Stunning!
    was her father white btw
    Still Lovely!

  11. shes is pretty

  12. So what you are trying to tell me is that this girl is 16 years old? She looks old but she is beautiful

  13. I watched only a little of the “red carpet” last night & these two were the ones I saw. Lisa Rinna was saying how she hadn’t seen Alfre’s daughter in such a long time & Alfre stated her daughter was now 17.

  14. Oh, and both of them are absolutely beautiful!! 🙂 Love their dresses!

  15. Mavis is beautiful.

  16. SHE IS BEAUTIFUL! I WAS SHOCKED WHEN I READ SHE WAS ONLY 16 SHE COULD EASILY PASS FOR SOMEONE IN THIER 20S. BUT SHE IS ABSOLUTLEY GORGEOUS!

  17. I was looking @ Alfre in A Family that Preys thinking I hope to age so gracefully. Looking good and her daughter is beautiful.

  18. They look fabulous in their gowns. Nice pic.

  19. The first thing or should i say the second thing that stood out to me as i read the blurp about Alfre and her daughter Mavis, are:
    1. she is a beautiful young lady; no question about that
    2. she is adopted.

The second somehow for me, takes the air out of the balloon. Why is that important to mention? how relative is that? I’m not adopted or have adopted children so i’m not sensitive to this from the standpoint of personal experience.

however, i think of all those who are adopted even in this case Mavis, and wonder what must it be like for them to have the word “adopted” added to who they are. whey couldn’t it be left at Alfre and her daughter Mavis? Do we say this is my biological daughter / son so and so? No, we just say, “this is my son / daughter”.

let’s be more sensitive to issues like these. i take issues with stuff like this as you can see and hear.

  21. I read the blurb about Alfre and her daughter and I don’t even remembering reading that she was adopted. I just had to go back and re-read it. Being adopted is nothing to be ashamed of. I think more people should talk about it as it will encourage more people to open up their homes to children in need. There are millions of children in the world that would absolutely love to be adopted. We should encourage people to share their stories rather than suppress them.

  22. Alfree Woodard has been railroaded for years because she doesn’t have European feature, but she is a good looking woman and an AMAZING actress. Literally one of the best to best AA actresses out there.

Her daughter is drop dead gorgeous!!

  23. I don’t see a problem with mentioning her daughter was adopted it is just “how it is said.” It should read her daughter that “was” adopted and not her “adopted daughter.” We adoptive moms are more aware of wording.

  24. Are you sure she’s only 16?! i’m going on 19, and i saw her in jet magazine a few years ago and i could have sworn we were the same age…

  25. DAMN she looks old as hell. lol I don’t think she was born in ’92.

  26. They prolly dont know how old she really is they adopted her…Maybe they just guessed or something

  27. She is very beautiful!

  28. @jaymele

why wouldn’t they know how old she is just because she’s adopted? Last time I looked, ALL children born in this country (and in many others) are registered at birth, so knowing their exact age is a no-brainer….
